Ellen Clacy (active 1870-1916)
Little is known of the highly accomplished watercolourist Ellen Clacy. She lived in London and regularly exhibited watercolours of romantic and historical subjects at the Royal Academy and the Society of British Artists between 1870 and 1900. Clacy's mother was also called Ellen Clacy and was a well-known travel writer who visited the Australian goldfields in 1852-3 and wrote a book about her experiences.
